Pressed Flowers With Calligraphy Essentials

Hi There :o)

I've gone out of my comfort zone today with today's main colour! Grapefruit Grove is not a colour I would have picked for anything ... ever ... really, but I'm experimenting a little and trying some different combinations.

I wasn't going to post this card at all because I wasn't even sure that I like it! But it's been sat on my desk for a couple of days and it's grown on me ... so here we are :o)

I used the long textured stamp in the Pressed Flowers set to create a background for the image using So Saffron and Mint Macaron ink. The flower was stamped using Black Stazon. This stamp set is one of our current Hostess sets.

The 'Hello' comes from the Calligraphy Essentials set. I love this sentiment set! Most of the words in it are outline images, so you can colour them in if you wish to. I just used my Basic Black Stampin' Marker for this.

The background panel was embossed using the Basket Weave folder.

Very Vintage In Lovely Lipstick

As you can see, I still haven't finished playing with the Very Vintage stamp set yet! I really love this floral image, it's just so pretty.

I stamped it with Black Stazon this time and watercoloured using an Aqua Painter and ink pads.

I couldn't resist using the Stitched Seasons framelit again - remember these will be available to customers for August 2018 only!

The Black layer has been embossed using the Climbing Vine folder. I'm so sorry this doesn't show up, I just couldn't get it to photograph well! It's a lovely background for the image too!

How To Get The Best Results When Using The Bokeh Dots Stamp Set - Video

Hi There!

I have something a little different to share with you today!

When I saw the Bokeh Dots stamp set in the new Annual Catalogue, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I thought it looked absolutely gorgeous!

Sadly, when it came and I tried it I was beyond disappointed! I tried stamping it in the normal way, but I could not get any decent results with one of the stamps (shown on left of stamp case above).

The set consists of two Background stamps.  The Bokeh lighting effect is so lovely and this is on both the stamps. One of them also has a Starburst type effect and this one was much easier to stamp with and the results were as expected.

These are a new type of stamp from Stampin' Up! called Distinctive stamps. They give a photorealistic image when stamped.

You have to be careful not to use too much ink when inking up Distinctive stamps. They have a surface texture that can be flooded easily if too much is used. Most Distinctive stamps are fine to use with our ink pads, as long as they aren't too juicy. BUT I could not get any acceptable results when I tried to stamp with this stamp from the set!

So after much play and experimentation, I found a simple way to make it work :o) And ... it was worth the effort. I LOVE this stamp and can now use it successfully whenever I want to :o)

So here is a Video showing you how I use this stamp and get great results every single time ....

There are five Distinctive stamp sets available in the Annual catalogue (I missed one in the Video). These are ....

Stylish Christmas (UK page 101)
Healing Hugs (UKpage 110)
All The Good Things (UK page 151)
Bokeh Dots (UK page 153)
Seize The Day (UK page 157)

The following are the cards I showed in the Video ....

Lovely Lipstick and Pool Party - The Dandelion Wishes stamp set looks so good against this background.

Balmy Blue and Poppy Parade - Perfect 'Thank You' cards with the Dandelion Wishes images.

Finally, to show you the other Background stamp in the set. Used with High Tide and Night of Navy ink.

Note: The 'Thank You' stamp comes from the Blended Seasons stamp set.
