Today's card is another created using the lovely Soft Spring Host stamp set.
I used a couple of the newer In Colours for this one - Pretty Peacock and Rococco Rose.
The images were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This time I used the stamp set as it was meant to be used. It's a 2-step set so you have outline images and other stamps that you use to colour in your outlines. I love that it's Photopolymer and you don't have to be precise with the 2-step :o)
The sentiment is one of my favourites an comes from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set.

Hi There! :o) I have a Technique Video to share with you today. It's a simple one :) I've used one of our current Host stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue called Soft Spring. You can find all our Host sets towards the back of the catalogue. These sets can only be purchased with your Host Rewards. You earn these when you Host a Party or when you place an order of £150 or more.
I wanted to show you that you can use our Stampin' Write Markers to watercolour. I don't recommend using them on large images because it can be difficult blending out any lines, but on small images like this they are perfect :o)
I used Granny Apple Green ink for the leaves here and Gorgeous Grape for the flowers. I coloured the base of the leaves first and then pulled the colour up towards the tips with my Aqua Painter.
This is the second main image in the stamp set. I wanted to create a card with it using the same techniques. There wasn't a lot to colour as the areas on the flowers are so tiny but it worked nevertheless. I added So Saffron to the background together with a touch of it on the Dragonfly. The main colour is Pacific Point.
The sentiments used on these cards come from the Botanical Bliss stamp set.
This is the card I created in the Video. I kept with the Brights family and used Melon Mambo, together with Granny Apple Green again. I used Watercolour card for the stamped panel on all the cards. The one I actually used is Daler Rowney Cold Pressed 140lb Aquarelle. This is a similar colour and texture to the one you can purchase through Stampin' Up! - I have linked theirs below. You could use any Watercolour card you have though for this technique. The stamp set is Photopolymer so I don't recommend you use Stazon ink with it. I used my Versafine Onyx Black ink. I love this ink because you can watercolour with it - as long as it's thorougly dry first - and you can heat emboss with it. I embossed the sentiments with Clear powder .
The stamp set is actually a 2-step set and has separate stamps that would 'colour' your images for you. I only used the outline images for these cards. Here is the Video ...

Hello There :o) I have a Technique Video to share with you today. I haven't done Marker Thumping for years - 6 years in fact! I came across my old technique cards the other day and this was on one of them, so I thought I would give it a go using the Stamparatus. You can do this technique without the Stamparatus - you just mount your stamp on a block instead :o) I've been playing with the Beauty & Joy stamp set and thought the large foliage stamp would be perfect for this technique.
I wanted to experiment a little so for this first card I inked up my foliage stamp using Crushed Curry ink and stamped it down. I then used some of the Stampin' Write Markers from the Regals Collection to 'Thump' onto the stamp. Now when I say 'thump' I really mean a light tap ... and you use the side of the marker not the tip of it otherwise they will get mashed. Starting from the lightest and working to the darkest colour you just tap the markers all over the stamp. When you are happy that there is enough ink and colour on there, you give the stamp a Huff to reactivate any ink that has started drying - and stamp it down.
It's a fabulous technique and I love this result. The background was stencilled using one of the Pattern Party Decorative masks. I used an oval make up brush to add the ink. You can purchase special 'craft' brushes that look identical to this but they are expensive. The make up brushes are available in sets at a much cheaper price - and they work brilliantly - check out Amazon if you are interested :o)
I didn't want to make identical cards, so changed up the colours and the stencil used for each as well as the dies to cut out the main panel. For this second card I started in exactly the same way. Stamping with Crushed Curry ink first off and then thumping my markers as before. Before stamping though I spritzed my stamp with just a little water from a fine mister. I'm using normal weight Whisper White card so you don't want to get things too wet!
The effect you get is lovely. You lose the marker lines and the colours blend together a little - I think this is so pretty :o) The stencil I used here is from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks pack. This time I applied the ink using a Stampin' Sponge.
For my final card instead of Whisper White card I used Watercolour card. This isn't from Stampin' Up (their's is off white) and I wanted White for this card. Again, I started as before but this time when I spritzed the stamp I used a lot more water - the watercolour card can take much more than normal cardstock.
The result you get is again lovely. Much more of a blend of the colours and a softer look where the edges of the leaves are less defined. The stencil used is another from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks pack. This time I applied the ink using a Sponge Dauber. This applies it just as well as the brush or sponge BUT it takes a lot longer!
I took this photo of all the cards lined up together to hopefully show you the difference between them. If you click on it, you can enlarge the photo for a closer look.
