Simple Watercolouring with the Stampin' Write Makers - using Soft Spring

Hi There! :o)

I have a Technique Video to share with you today. It's a simple one :)

I've used one of our current Host stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue called Soft Spring. You can find all our Host sets towards the back of the catalogue. These sets can only be purchased with your Host Rewards. You earn these when you Host a Party or when you place an order of £150 or more.

I wanted to show you that you can use our Stampin' Write Markers to watercolour. I don't recommend using them on large images because it can be difficult blending out any lines, but on small images like this they are perfect :o)

I used Granny Apple Green ink for the leaves here and Gorgeous Grape for the flowers. I coloured the base of the leaves first and then pulled the colour up towards the tips with my Aqua Painter.

This is the second main image in the stamp set. I wanted to create a card with it using the same techniques. There wasn't a lot to colour as the areas on the flowers are so tiny but it worked nevertheless.

I added So Saffron to the background together with a touch of it on the Dragonfly. The main colour is Pacific Point.

The sentiments used on these cards come from the Botanical Bliss stamp set.

This is the card I created in the Video. I kept with the Brights family and used Melon Mambo, together with Granny Apple Green again.

I used Watercolour card for the stamped panel on all the cards. The one I actually used is Daler Rowney Cold Pressed 140lb Aquarelle. This is a similar colour and texture to the one you can purchase through Stampin' Up! - I have linked theirs below. You could use any Watercolour card you have though for this technique.

The stamp set is Photopolymer so I don't recommend you use Stazon ink with it. I used my Versafine Onyx Black ink. I love this ink because you can watercolour with it - as long as it's thorougly dry first - and you can heat emboss with it. I embossed the sentiments with Clear powder .

The stamp set is actually a 2-step set and has separate stamps that would 'colour' your images for you. I only used the outline images for these cards.

Here is the Video ...
