Well ... one look at the above picture should tell you that I enjoyed this Technique! I rarely make multiple cards :o)
I really loved creating these ... and they were simple to do.
Now .... I am not a Watercolouring expert and I have never watercoloured an embossed image before (I don't think). So this was all very new and I had to learn as I went :o)
This was my very first attempt .... and I wasn't at all happy with it. I used the Watercolour pencils (which I never use). The colours are Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green and Crushed Cutty .... but they didn't really come out true. I think this may well have been because I used so much colour - again I'm a novice here :o) I had difficulty blending and toning the colours down.
I decided to cut the panel down and create a card with it. I used a Melon Mambo mat behind the embossed panel because it was a closer match in colour. I actually really like this card now, it's grown on me! It's bright .... and boy is it a little bit of a mess colouring wise, but it's still pretty ... if you look at it from a bit of a distance and squint! :o)
After my mini disaster with the water colour pencils I switched to using the ink pads. This was just going to be a practice panel, but I couldn't bin it in the end, so created another card. I learnt quite a bit with this one.
One of the key things is to let your first layer dry before adding a second. My leaves weren't great - all the lines bled a bit because the underneath was still quite wet.
I used Watercolour card for all these cards. Not Stampin' Up!'s though. I have several different types in a variety of colours (whites, creams and off whites). I purchase mine in large packs or pads as it's just more economical for me with how much I use :o)
I had more success with this next card :o) 'Practise makes perfect' as they say .... although I'm no where near being perfect yet!
This one was in Blushing Bride with Pear Pizzazz leaves. I think I used Crushed Curry for the stamens on all the cards.
I really liked the simple layout used for all the cards. This folder really doesn't need a lot extra to make a beautiful card.
This is the card I created in the Video. I've used Highland Heather for the petals and Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry for the leaves and stamens.
One thing I noticed quite quickly while creating these cards was that adding water to an embossed image will slowly cause the image to 'melt' back into the card. So you lose a lot of the fine definition - for example on the stamens and the debossed lines on the leaves. To bring this back, you just have to put the panel back into the embossing folder and run it through your die cutting maching again. I did this a couple of times for this card to ensure that the final version was as crisp as it could be.
Here is the Video ...
