Welcome to the Stampin Friends Blog Hop for February!
This month's theme is 'Brighten Your Day!
I had a request earlier this month to create a CD Holder and thought that this theme would suit it very well. What could be more uplifting than a gift of music? Of course, it could be an audiobook instead :o)
If you are following along with the Hop, you may have arrived from Heidi's Blog.
Be sure to read through my post, comment below and then continue on to Jo's Blog.
If you get lost along the way, you can find a full list of all the participants at the end of each of their Blog Posts.
Here are the projects I created for this month's Hop ...
I used the Sweet Strawberry bundle for my projects - but only the little Flower images, so no strawberries on these! :o)
To create the oval Flower frame I used one of the dies from the Layering Ovals set. I centred it on my panel and drew around it to create a guide.
The smaller Flowers were then stamped all around the pencilled oval.
This is the closure on the back. It's my favourite type, so I've used it a lot.
To add a 'fancy' edge to the lid I used the border die in the Peony die set - completely optional though - you could just use a corner rounder if you want to.
The method for creating the card was exactly the same as for the Box - the panel is just a little smaller.
All the Whisper White panels have been embossed using the Subtle embossing folder.
The Flowers were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with our Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. Super simple colouring too - no actual blending was done.
I used Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock and Purple Posy - all colours from our oldest current In Colour Collection.
The sentiment is from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set.
Of course, you could create this for any occasion. I really wanted to create 'Get Well' projects but I don't actually have any stamps with that sentiment!
The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.
The colours used for this second set are Flirty Flamingo, Purple Posy and So Saffron.
This card was actually my 'trial' project and was made first. I did use a different embossing folder for the Whisper White panels - the Tasteful Textile 3D folder BUT when I came to emboss the coordinating Box I realised that it was too narrow. You need to use a 6" folder for this project.
