Welcome to the Stampin Friends Blog Hop for March!
This month's theme is 'Monochromatic'. Now I wasn't altogether sure what this meant so had to check the meaning ... and it said 'tones of one colour' :o) In the end, I decided to use Black with Grey .... assuming grey is a 'tone' of black I think I'm ok :o) I know I've cheated anyway using the little bit of Petal Pink for the 'neck' on my card ... but I'm giving myself a pass on that! :o)
If you get lost along the way, you can find a full list of all the participants at the end of each of their Blog Posts.
Here are the projects I created for this month's Hop ...
I decided to make Masculine projects this month. A very stylish gift box and a coordinating card.
I used the Handsomely Suited stamp set and its coordinating Suite & Tie dies together with paper from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper pack.
The Gift Box measures 3 1/2" tall, wide and deep.
I used 12"x12" card for both the lid and the base of the Box. The Video shows me creating the Base in Basic White card, but I wasn't keen on the overall look once finished so changed it to Basic Black.
The 12" Basic Black card has been retired for a while now, but I have lots saved for my own use :o) We do have 12" card in all of our other colours and of course you don't need to use Black for this project.
However, if you do want to make the Box in Black and don't own any 12" card, one of my Videos next week will show you how to create the same style Box in the same size, but using your standard A4 or 8 1/2" x 11" card - so watch this space! :o)
The Gift Box would be perfect to hold that special gift for an18th or 21st Birthday. Or if you changed the sentiment to 'Thank You' it would be suitable for a Best Man or Wedding Usher's gift.
I used one of the stamps from the Borders Abound set on the Black mat on the top of the Box. I embossed this with Clear Powder.
I also used the same stamp all over the Black Jacket on the card. This looks fabulous in real life, but I struggled to get it to show clearly in the photos.
The Shirt is also embossed using our Dainty Diamonds folder. I made sure I centred this within the V of the Jacket so that it looked 'right' - but again so hard to get it to show on the photos :o)
Finally, a photo that shows you all the detail - it really is a great card!
Here is the Video ...

Very classy card and box! I will be watching to see the one you make with standard size card stock. I really appreciate the format you use when you post the dimensions. Now that I have FINALLY learned how to take a screenshot, I have created a file to save your projects and sizes. Thanks for sharing.
