Friends Are Like Seashells - Creating Pearlescent Card - Video Tutorial

In today's Video I show you how to create Pearlescent Card using normal card stock.

I used products from the beautiful Friends Are Like Seashells product suite to create these cards.

The background panel for this card was in Seaside Spray. 

To make the pearlescent finish I used some of our Shimmer Paint in Frost White mixed with a little water. This product is actually now retiring and today is the last day you can purchase it from Stampin' Up! BUT it's by Tsukineko (called All Purpose Ink) and can be purchased at lots of other places :o)

The paint was mixed with a little water and spread over the card stock using a sponge. 

This is the card I created in the Video. I used Pretty Peacock for the back panel this time so that you could see how the finish looked on darker card.

Once the back panels were dry, I die cut them using the large die from the Seaside Seashells set. They were then embossed using the Seashells 3D embossing folder.

Here is a better look at the lovely finish you get with this technique.

This was the first card I created using the technique. I didn't die cut it this time, just embossed. I love both versions of the card. The extra mat in Basic Black makes the Rococo Rose panel stand out more.

The seashells were all stamped in Sahara sand. I wanted muted colours for them so stamped 'off' each time before stamping over them.

The colours used for all the seashells were So Saffron, Pool Party, Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam.

Measurements

Note: If you use A4 as your standard sheet of card – follow the metric measurements (cms).

If you use 8½” x 11” as your standard sheet of card – follow the imperial measurements (inches).

 

         

Sahara Sand card base                              ½ an A4 standard sheet of card

Basic White (Inside)                                    14.4cm x 10cm              (US 5¼” x 4”) 

Pretty Peacock                                              14.85cm x 10.5cm       (US 5½” x 4¼”)

 

 

You will need extra Basic White card to complete the project.
